                                          Our new bee hive

Last week my dad bought a bee hive so now we have got 30,000 bees in our back lawn.
There is a queen bee in the bee hive but I have not seen it yet.

All day long the bees bring nectar from different kinds of plants back to the bee hive to make honey. Every night when I go to bed I can hear the bees buzzing around to try and find plants and flowers to collect the nectar from. The bees are really busy at this time of the year because they have to prepare themselves for winter.

We have to make a bowl of sugar water every second day and put it in the bee hive for the bees to drink from.

Every time we want to check on the bees, put the sugar water in the bee hive or collect the honey, we have to wear special bee suits to protect us from bee stings. They also prevent bees from getting up your nose, your ears or into your mouth. That can be very  dangerous especially if you are allergic to bee stings.
